1/12 Tournament Weekend: Closeouts, Scrimmages, and Champs Galore

EDIT: Southlake Carroll won Cavalier, Isidore Newman got 2nd place.

This weekend we saw a variety of tournaments - some with full elims, others with scrimmage formats. Either way, we are always happy to see folks dedicate their weekends to debating their hearts out! Let’s take a deep dive into the events of this weekend.

Sunvite

In Florida, the Sunvite had a scrimmage-style tournament for its competitors. In the end, Ransom Everglades went undefeated at the tournament. Congratulations to Anya Bhandari, Jillian Demos-Brown, Mia Bouyoucef, Luciana Pardo, and Kayra Serpenguzel!

Mount Vernon Invitational

In Washington, the final round was set to be between Southlake Carroll and George Washington. However, both teams claimed the title of co-champs, so congratulations to both teams! Good job to Southlake’s Rishi Shori, Srishthi Das, and Rohan Sanghavi as well as George Washington’s Clove Smith, Miles Burtchaell, and Maggie Duffy!

Cavalier Invitational

Harvard Westlake

Mayde Creek Ram Classic

Meanwhile, in Houston, the closeout trend continues. No finals were hosted because Jordan closed out finals! Congratulations to Jordan’s Abhishek Bhagat, Vibhu Kanna, Nihilesh Pari, Angela Hsu, Angela Liu, Emma Heuven, Aditya Sharma, and Sameeha Mohammed!

CYPRESS FALLS

Also in Houston, we did manage to have a final round between two schools. In the finals, Elkins on the proposition debated Jersey Village on the opposition. On a 3-0 decision, Elkins emerged victorious. Congratulations Ashritha Akkaladevi, Dhanuj Paladugu, Aryan Goel, and Daya Mathew!
