SunHee Simon
Founder
SunHee Simon graduated from Stanford University in 2019 (BA in African American History; MA in Sociology). Her debate accolades are many, ranging from being one of the first students to qualify to the Tournament of Champions in LD and Policy debate to representing the United States on Team USA to semi-finaling her freshman year of college at the CEDA Tournament in 2015. She has dedicated the past 8 years of her young career to coaching fantastic debaters who have reached accolades even more impressive than her own. This includes, but is not limited to, having several of her students on Team Texas as well as championing the Cal Invitational and TFA State. She is based at Coppell High School where she continues to coach, drill, laugh, and grow with her students every day.

Irene John
Student Journalist
Irene is a senior at Elkins High School. This is her fourth year in debate, and she serves as her school’s WSD Captain as well as its Team Manager. Irene co-founded the first WSD program at her school in her freshman year, and has since gone on to win various local tournaments, as well as reaching elimination rounds in national and international tournaments. Some of her notable accomplishments include placing 3rd at TFA State and finishing as fourth speaker, as well as semifinaling the Bluebonnet International WSDC and the Churchill Classic, finishing as top speaker. Outside of debate, Irene is involved in various clubs, including moderating her district’s largest club (Book and Culture), Model UN, Student World Affairs Council, and her school’s newspaper. She is very interested in writing, having published her prose and winning national awards for her creative work. Irene is incredibly excited to work for WOWI this year!

Safiya Azam
Student Journalist
Safiya is a junior at Coppell High school and has been competing in World School’s since her freshman year. Some of her biggest accomplishments include second speaker at the Tournament of Champions and breaking to out rounds at the Berkeley Invitational and Longhorn Classic. When she isn’t debating in class she’s helping coach others in her schools debate academy. Outside of debate she’s incredibly passionate about the fine arts, winning various awards for her work, volunteering at art museums, and participating in national art honors society within her school. She’s also involved in her schools award winning newspaper program in which she writes, photographs, and designs. In her free time you can catch her spending her wallet at the local thrift, debriefing with friends, and working on her Op-Ed!

Sahith Mocharla
Instructor
Sahith is an incoming sophomore at UT Austin in the McCombs school of Business and the College of Liberal Arts on a pre-law track. Sahith has coached at the World of Words Institute, consulted for Team Texas, and privately coached debaters across the country. Sahith’s been involved in debate since his freshman year of high school as a founding member of Coppell WSD and is a founder of the UT Austin Parliamentary Debate team. He’s achieved success at numerous tournaments reaching deep outrounds at the NSDA Tournament, The Blake Tournament, the Kandi King Round Robin, and The Croatian Invitational Winter Holiday Open (W.H.O.). Sahith championed TFA State, The UC Berkeley Invitational, and the Longhorn Classic. Sahith top spoke TFA state, 3rd spoke UT Austin, and 8th Spoke W.H.O. Outside of debate you can find him reading a new novel, watching a marvelous movie, and indulging in fantastic food – as well as over applying alliteration.

Suchit Ineni
Instructor
Suchit is an incoming sophomore at UT Dallas studying Mathematics. He is currently an assistant coach at Coppell where his students have reached outrounds at many local and national tournaments, such as Grapevine, Greenhill, Longhorn Classic, and Blake. As a competitor for Coppell, Suchit competed in WSD for 3 years and broke at tournaments including Blake, NSDA nationals, Grapevine, Southlake Carroll, and Colleyville. I’m his senior year, Suchit won the Longhorn Classic, California Invitational Berkeley, and TFA State. When he isn’t debating you can find him watching sports, going down rabbit holes learning about random topics, or winning at every card game imaginable.

Aali Shah
Instructor
Aali Shah started competitive debate his junior year, and qualified for state both years and nationals. Some tournament achievements include: Top Speaker and Champion at UNT, champion at Cedar Park, quarterfinalist at Bluebonnet, 3rd places at Grapevine and Greenhill, 2nd place at UT, 6th speaker at Blake, and Top Speaker/Champion at Plano East. He’s really excited to teach at camp because he remembers how confusing Worlds can be at the beginning, and he was really lucky to have great coaches and seniors to guide him through that learning process. In his free time, he loves to read good books, play chess and basketball, and spend time with friends.

Aditi Singh
Aditi is a senior at Flower Mound HS hoping to study neuroscience in college. She began debate sophomore year and competed in Congressional Debate, semifinaling nationals twice before making the switch to Worlds. Her achievements include championing the Grapevine Classic, Jasper Howl, Hendrickson Swing, and Big Cat Swing and making out rounds at 2023 TFA State and at the Longhorn Classic. Aditi has also earned several speaker awards, including ranking 2nd at TFA State. Her favorite part of debate has been teaching underclassmen, and she's excited to get to continue this beyond high school through WOWI!

Angela Kamgang
Instructor
Angela is a senior at Greenhill School. She has been involved with debate for four years and has spent three competing in World Schools Debate. Her notable achievements include placing third at TFA state and NSDA nationals. Additionally, she has reached out rounds at the Greenhill Fall Classic, Grapevine Classic, Longhorn Classic, Ed Long Invitational, Jesuit Dallas Invitational, and championed the Isidore Newman Invitational and the Colleyville Classic. Outside of debate, she likes to spend time with her friends, read, and have engaging conversations. Angela is also an avid chef and loves recreating the dishes she eats. She is excited to meet everyone and work with passionate debaters!

Effie Shen
Instructor
Effie has been on the Coppell Speech and Debate Team for 4 years. While she started out in Public Forum, she transitioned to World Schools towards the end of Sophomore year and became ranked 53rd nationally according to the National Speech and Debate Association Rankings. She was a finalist at the 2023 Longhorn Classic at UT Austin, semifinalist and 4th speaker at the 2023 Greenhill Fall Classic, semifinalist and 7th speaker in World Schools at the 2023 Grapevine Classic, and a tournament champion at the 2022 UNT John S. Gossett Memorial Tournament. Effie's looking forward to sharing her love of debate with students-- whether it's through teaching topic knowledge or tips and tricks for during rounds.

Rishi Shori
Instructor
Rishi Shori is a senior in Carroll High School. He's competed in Worlds Schools for 4 full years and he is one of the Captains for his event. Throughout his debating tenure, Rishi has achieved notable success, including championship titles at the 2023 Longhorn Classic, 2023 Jasper Tournament, and 2024 Durham Invitational Tournament. Furthermore, he earned recognition as a top 5 speaker at the Hockaday tournament, 2nd speaker position at the 2024 Durham Cavalier Invitational and at the 2024 Plano Swing Tournament. Notably, Rishi Shori has also achieved a national ranking of 28th according to the National Speech and Debate Association. Outside of debate, Rishi loves to play/watch basketball along with hanging out with his friends. He is looking forward to help guide debaters along a path of success and can't wait to meet everyone.

Sophia Ahmed
Instructor
Sophia Ahmed competed in WSD since her freshman year. Some of the highlights include championing UT, placing in the top 10 speakers at Hockaday and Heart of Texas, as well as being the coach of the Southlake Middle School WSD team. One of her favorite things about this event is that every individual has a unique role and personality that they can express as they debate, and she is really looking forward to helping others discover what that role is as they prepare for the fall season.
