2/9 Weekend: Big Wins Come In Across the Country

Happy Mardis Gras everyone! This past weekend, there were tons of tournaments all over the place - which we love to see! We saw competition across three states: Texas, California, and Wyoming. Let’s take a look at the results!

THE SVUDL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

At the SVUDL tournament in California, a WSD scrimmage-style tournament was held. Ultimately, the team that went undefeated was from Silver Creek. Congratulations to Tiffany Le, Jacklyn Nguyen, Leonardo de Arruda, and Aizel Ibus.

JESUIT DALLAS DEBATE INVITATIONAL

Meanwhile, in Dallas, Coppell on the proposition debated Greenhill on the opposition. They debated the motion “This House believes that NATO has done more harm than good”. On a 2-1 decision, Greenhill won the tournament! Congratulations to Jonaki Bose, Angela Kamgang, Carys Diamond, and Lilliana Alston!

ROVERTON 2024

Meanwhile, in Wyoming, Hotsprings opposition debated Green River on the opposition. They debated the topic: “This House would prioritize the search for extraterrestrial life.” Ultimately, Green River emerged victorious. Congratulations to Brianna Page, Abigail Smith, MaKynzee Bagshaw, and Bekalyn Swett.

DUDA HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT 4

In Dallas, the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance held their fourth tournament of the season. They held a scrimmage-style event. There wasn’t an official final round so we will just shout out the top seed as per Tabroom.In varsity, JBS Law Magnet’s Sabrina Bhattarai, Elliott Yervasi, and Jose Morales were the highest seed!

SEVEN LAKES CY PARK TFA IQT SWING

In Katy, TX, we saw another swing tournament. At the Seven Lakes half of the swing, the finals were between Southlake Caroll on the prop and Elkins on the opp. On a 2-1 decision, Southlake emerged victorious. Congratulations to Sumyak Raj, Rohan Sanghavi, Rishi Shori, Nikhil Reddy, and Bailey Koh.

At the Park side of the swing, Tompkins on the proposition debated William P Clements on the opposition. On a 2-1 decision, Tompkins emerged victorious. Congratulations to Aravind Dasu, Louise Huh, Daniel Rupawalla, Shree Veruva, and Shreya Karthik!

38TH ANNUAL STANFORD INVITATIONAL

In the final round, NSDA Team USA on the proposition debated against Calgary Crawdaddies and Co on the opposition. On a 3-0 decision, Team USA claimed the championship title. Congratulations to Alex Lee, Chelsea Hu, Sophia Li, Advika Sadasivan, and Cameron Hong!
