Late Summer Tournament Recap: St. John’s, WAIS, Dripping Springs, and Grand Oaks secure the first wins of the season!

It’s been a busy summer and a busy start to the season! While DFW is still gearing up, Houston and the Austin area have been holding it down with World Schools. Let’s get into recapping the past two weekends!

Foster

Last week, Alief Kerr on the proposition debated Elkins on the opposition in the tournament finals. They debated the motion: “This House believes that the acquisition of startups by large corporations does more harm than good”. On a 3-0 decision, St. John’s emerged victorious as the first WSD champs of the season! Congratulations to Leetyan Chen, Brandon Wu, Carter Lawrence, Julian Juang, and Nathan Kim!

Jordan

This past weekend, Westchester Academy For International Studies on the proposition debated Elkins on the opposition. On a 3-0 decision, WAIS claimed the crown! Congratulations to Tej Aliota, Preston Hershkwoitz, Irath Habani, and Evan Danek!

Hendrickson

Meanwhile at Hendrickson, finals never even happened. That’s because Dripping Springs took it all! Congratulations to Caitlyn Dorsey, Will McAdams, Zoey Parks, and Liam Ianiro (the top seed) and Laurel Carley, Trudy Lagarde, Jenifer Galindo Rios, Brian Perez, and Aaniya Khan (the second seed)!

College Park

And last, but certainly not least, we had the College Park tournament in Conroe. The final was between Tomball on the proposition and Grand Oaks on the opposition. They debated the motion: “This House believes that the environmental rights of future generations supersede the economic interests of current generations”. On a 3-0 decision, Grand Oaks emerged victorious! Congratulations to Wilhem Reichmeider, Evelyn Phillips, MaKaila Ott, Alana Rosado, and Faith Alvarenga!
