Introducing the W.O.W.I. Junior Scholars Program
"Unlocking potential, one argument at a time."
By popular demand, we’ve decided to finally start a prep program during the school year! In tandem with WOWI’s goals, we like to have strict enrollment parameters to best test out our ideas before fully launching. As a result, we will have a pilot program of the WOWI Junior Scholars Program (WOWI Junior for short) running from January 5 to the end of May 25 (5 months).
What would a session look like?
Classes will be 2 hours long every Sunday
A group of no more than 4 students will be assigned to 1 instructor. This allows for direct mentorship and tons of opportunities for students to speak. Student groups will rotate so they get to work with a new instructor every few weeks.
Every Sunday, classes will begin with Ms. Simon (Director of WOWI), who gives a group lecture for about 15 minutes. Then, students do speaking activities known as drills and mini lessons with their assigned instructors based on the lecture for the day. The last 15 minutes of the class are a debrief session with a comprehension check or game that has students display their knowledge. On occasion, students may be asked to complete some homework.
Who is this program for?
Students grades 6 through 8
Students who want to dive into debate early
Students who thrive in small group instruction environments
Students who want to enter high school ready to be competitively successful
How much does this program cost?
If paid in full, it’s $1250 for the five months. If paid monthly, it’s $300/month.
