October 27th Weekend: Christopher Columbus, Southlake Carroll, Velásquez, and Dripping Springs Secure the Ws

This weekend we kept watch on tournaments in Texas, Massachusetts, and Florida. We’re so excited to see more tournaments happening across the United States (if there are tournaments coming up that should be on our radar, shoot us a DM so we can be on the lookout)!

FLORIDA BLUE KEY SPEECH AND DEBATE TOURNAMENT

In Florida, Miami Beach Senior High- BMVTS faced off against Christopher Columbus SASR in the finals. They debated the motion: This house supports mandatory voting in national democratic elections. On a close 2-1 decision, Christopher Columbus secured the win. Congratulations Martin Seals & Daniel Alvarez & Christian Sanjuan & Lucas Rivera!

TIM AVERILL INVITATIONAL ONLINE

At the Tim Averill Invitational, the top seed was Velásquez’s Yimeng Yuan, Max Furberg and Prahi Shah. They went 4-0 at the tournament and did an amazing job placing as the top seed. Congrats!

BOERNE CHAMPION TFA TOURNAMENT

At the Boerne Champion Tournament, Dripping Springs closed out the tournament. Congrats to the co-champions Trudy Lagarde, Aaniya Khan, Laurel Carley, and Jenifer Galindo Rios as well as Colton De Los Santos, Alexander Seshan, Liam Ianiro and Will McAdams.

MELISSAS KENNETH WOOTEN ONLINE TFATOC

At the Melissas Kenneth Wooten tournament Southlake Caroll faced off against Coppell in the final round. They debated the motion: This house prefers proxy wars.

On a 3-0 decision, Southlake emerged victorious and secured the championship. Congrats to Sophia Ahmed, Srishthi Das, Rishi Shori and Rishi Suri.
