November 10th Weekend: Grand Oaks, Harvard Westlake, Greenhill, Westlake, and Westchester Are The Champs This Week

This weekend we kept our eye out on several tournaments in Texas and California. Students fought hard for their titles and we finally know who emerged on top!

KATY TAYLOR TFA TOC NIETOC FALL CLASSIC

In Houston, Northland Christian debated against Grand Oaks in the final round. They debated the motion: THR the rise of citizen journalism. On a 3-0 Decision, Grand Oaks emerged victorious. Congratulations to Anisha Gupta, Alana Rosado, MaKaila Ott, Ariana Noor and Aleksander Mougoue

DAMUS HOLLYWOOD INVITATIONAL

Meanwhile in Sherman Oaks, California, Harvard Westlake faced Sage Hill in the final round. They debated the motion: THBT United States involvement in foreign wars produces more harm than benefit. On a 3-0 decision, Harvard Westlake took the championship title. Congrats to Nilufer Mistry-Sheasby, Liv Kriger, and Nathan Verny.

THE ED LONG INVITATIONAL AT THE HOCKADAY SCHOOL

In Dallas, Coppell debate Greenhill in the final round on the motion: THS the rise in unionization. On a 2-1 decision, Greenhill secured the win. Congratulations to Kaden Alibhai, Saida Bidiwala, Vivaan Gupta, Varun Mukund and Olivia Ortley-Gragg.

BOWIE LAMPASAS SWING

Worlds found itself in a swing situation at the Bowie Lampasas Swing. Westlake won BOTH sides of the swing. At the JBHS portion, they won on a 3-0 decision against Wimberly. At the LHS portion, they won on a 2-1 decision against Dripping Springs. At the JBHS portion of the swing, Westlake won on a 3-0 decision against Wimberly. Congratulations to Maxime Girou, Sophia Hughs, Claire Girou, Tatiana Maldei-Stumm, and Annika Hagen!

CLEAR BROOK HIGH SCHOOL IQT

In Friendswood, TX, Clear Springs debated Westchester Academy For International Studies in the finals. They debated the motion: This House believes that gene-editing technology should be restricted to non-human organisms. Ultimately, Westchester emerged victorious. Congratulations to Evan Danek, Irath Habani, Tej Aliota, Taha Asghar-Ali, and Preston Hershkwoitz.
